The end of the year is always an interesting time for music. With a little under two months left in the year, its always interesting to see what tricks artists have up their sleeve to close the year out. Recently, artist G RIEL has shown signs of closing the year out strong with the release of his new visual for his track “Sum Slight”
Who doesn’t love a good freestyle?
Recently DMV artist GRXZZLY has dropped his “GoldMxnd Freestyle” Visual which proves to hip hop fans that lyricism is still alive.
The visual begins with a recording of a phone call of someone explaining to GRXZZLY how the scene has become oversaturated with rappers who are producing a lot of less than great music and how unimpressive this music is. The person on the phone then tells GRXZZLY to give the people something serious to listen to, and with this freestyle that is exactly what he does. With this freestyle, GRXZZLY gives amazing delivery paired with witty punchlines that will resonate with true hip hop fans. GRXZZLY stated that “this is a representation of his penmanship and mindset as of right now. Some people claim that lyricism is dead in the DMV, well I disagree 100 %”

Its been a while since Young D The Pilot has released a project but with the release of his highly anticipated project “ORF”, he is back with an all new delivery while still staying true to the authenticity that fans love.
When asked about the album, Pilot stated that with this album he desired to redefine himself as an artist and show his audience how he can pull off various styles and the project displays that perfectly. The project beautifully tells stories of the struggle, survival and the route this artist took in order to not become a product of his environment. The enticing lyricism presented by Pilot paired with the beautiful production done by Illien Rosewell makes “ORF” a quality project that listeners are bound to enjoy.

If you haven’t been introduced to WhyNotDuce yet, now would be a great time to familiarize yourself with this upcoming artist. With a delivery that is very unique and his captivating ability to bring words to life in his music, WhyNotDuce is proving in his new release, “Two Sides To Every Story”, that he is certainly an artist that everyone should keep their eyes on.
The project “Two Sides To Every Story” is a collection of thoughts, narratives and experiences that gives listeners a deeper look into who WhyNotDuce is as a person and an artist. On the intro to the tape the artist sets the tone for the tape and gives motivation to keep God first, focus on grinding and let their talents “make room for them” in the world. On “Mr West Interlude” a great example of the artists amazing storytelling abilities are shown as he talks about his experience as a college student at Norfolk State University and the struggles of college life, something many listeners will be able to relate to. “Two Sides To Every Story” also houses some great features as well from other VA artists such as WhyNotGotti, Brax, and VA greats Treez Lowkey and Young Crazy. The project was produced beautifully by Jack TP who has done work with several VA artists such as Antny Rome and Doug Finesse

Def Corp artist Rari, who is arguably one of the best lyricists in VA, shocked us all with his lyrical abilities months ago on his song “Rari Effect” is now back with a new release entitled “The Realest”.
The song is produced by Blasian Beats and gives a deeper look into the artists struggle, how he overcame obstacles and his determination to make it in the game. Rari is one of many creatives who is a part of the Def Corp collective which is led by High Def Razjah, the mastermind behind songs such as “Take It Or Leave It” by Rae Sremmurd as well as “Let It Go” by ASAP Ferg. The collective is planning many things for the upcoming months, the release of “The Realest” being the first.

After a long hiatus from performing, Breezepark has kicked off the summer off by headlining their very own show at the NorVa this past weekend. The Suffolk based collective, who has just released their new project “Bloom”, had generated quite a buildup around this event and anyone lucky enough to be in attendance would certainly agree that they did not disappoint.
The concert itself was a perfect reflection of the group themselves, being that it was very high energy, top quality and extremely diverse. The lineup for the show was quite impressive and versatile featuring artists such as IIIDAZE, another up and coming collective from the VA area who has gained a lot of attention from the recent release of their “Night Shift” visual, as well as iLPackMob, a more seasoned collective who have come to be known as a favorite in the 757 area. Other artists on the lineup included Laws, FullMetalParkas and Zara Bash who is also featured on Breezeparks song “Paradise”. The sounds for the evening were provided by DJs Andre Palace and Ril McCoy, both of which did an incredible job of keeping the energy flowing for the entire duration of the show.
Overall the event made for a great evening. Each artist and group brought out their own following which contributed to a very diverse audience full of fans, who at the end of the night, did not leave disappointed.

Lately Vonsensei has created quite the buzz for himself regarding his musical endeavors. The artist has recently received 1,000,000 plays on his song “Henny”, which was only released 2 years ago. Within that time the artist has really done a tremendous job of giving fans constant content and showing his diversity as an artist while staying true to his unique style.
“Staring and Smiling” is the artists newest single. A notable feature of this track is that on this track (which is produced by Andre Palace) the artist switches things up doing a sing-songy rap type flow, a new musical approach for the artist. Overall, the song provides a seductive sound that listeners can vibe to and is great for summer.
